Scholarship Opens: February 1, 2021 Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2021 Scholarship will be awarded by: June 15, 2021 Scholarship Amount: $1,000 ESTABLISHED IN 2021 Entrepreneur, John Cathey, and his wife Mylica Cathey started Smokin’ Buttz BBQ in 2013 as a small family catering business. In 2014 they opened their food truck known as The Buttz Truck. Since this time they have been serving BBQ throughout Middle Tennessee. The Cathey's have a passion for seeing youth of color excel in higher education and this is the reason this scholarship has been established. ELIGIBILITY

  • Student of Color
  • Graduating Rutherford County High School Senior
  • At least 3.0 GPA
  • At least 10 hours of community service
  • Acceptance into a college or university
